Literature Text

Dib was laying on the mattress of a magenta sheeted bed, clad in his familiar trench coat, neutral smiley face T-shirt, and of course new clean skinny jeans. His limbs were sprawled out over the bed and he was practically purring at the feeling of the soft clean sheets. Cleanliness was a luxury he'd gone without for years and finally being able to enjoy it was amazing.

The mattress felt as soft as a cloud to him...almost like one of those memory foam beds on earth, and the room was pleasantly warm. During his study of irken culture, he'd found that irkens were extremely similar to cold blooded creatures in the sense that they couldn't control their body temperature. Because of this important armada ships had a heater built into them. For invaders however they had a certain program installed into their PAK which kind of worked in the same way that humans regulated their body temperature.

The human rolled over onto his side, nuzzling his face into one of the oversized pillows. The room didn't have that pristine hospital smell that he'd expected after fighting Zim for years. Zim's base had always been overly clean and almost hospital like so it was a shock when he'd stepped into the room and found that it smelled like fruit. He'd thought at first that it was a strawberry scent but now it was more watermelon...he guessed it was some kind of program that alternated fruit scents so that the senses were never bored.

All in all his stay on Zim's private ship hadn't been half bad at all. He'd gotten a bath, fresh clothes, and a place to sleep. The three very things he'd missed the most. But of course he had to keep reminding himself that he was on a ship with Zim, and that something bad could happen at any minute. The now tall irken was probably setting up some kind of weird torture plan and was just waiting for Dib to let his guard down.

"Enjoying your bed I see," Zim called from the doorway. The comment would have been almost kind had it not been for the creepy, sadistic smile that crossed the tall irken's features. He leaned slightly against the door frame, crossing his arms over his chest.

The teen leapt about a foot in the air at the sound of the irken's voice, and he ended up falling off the comfortable mattress altogether. He landed with a hard thud on the ground, a small groan escaping him before he sat up to glare at the alien. Great...just thinking about the ex invader seemed to draw him to the room. "What do you want, Space-boy." He growled as he rubbed at his once relaxed back.

"Hmmm, I was just going to take you to the lab so I could fix that eye of yours," The black clad tallest replied, waving a hand as though it didn't really matter now. But to him it did matter, he was sick of having to look at that dead eye because it reminded him of how badly he wanted that merchant dead for laying a hand on HIS human.

Dib was slightly shocked by the offer, but he wasn't really sure he wanted the irken anywhere near his eyes with whatever technology he'd be using. Sure he'd love to have his eyesight back up to standards but..what if the irken took the sight from his other eye? The teen stood and brushed himself off as if he were now covered in dust..even though the ship was spotless, before he went back to glaring at the irken.

"Suit yourself," Zim said, shrugging boredly. "If you don't want to be able to see then you can stay here for the time being," He said before turning and taking a step out of the room, though he paused and turned to glance at the human, "Dinner is at 6," He mentioned, he didn't need the human starving. He then disappeared off down the hallway to get back to preparing for the return to irk.

The teen flipped off the retreating irken before glancing down at the crumpled sheets on the bed. He didn't really want to lay down and relax anymore...in fact seeing as the alien had pretty much told him to stay in the room he wanted to wander around. He didn't need his childhood enemy telling him what to do.

Dib stuffed his hands into the pockets of his trench coat before wandering out into the hallway. He'd already gotten a good look at the layout of the ship seeing as it wasn't too huge, in fact it was about the same size as a private jet...which in comparison to what he'd heard about the massive was pretty small. The halls all had the same magenta coloring to their walls and ceiling though the floor was black, probably in honor of the new tallest's armor choice.

He began to wonder where Zim had gotten the clean clothing for him...he actually found it kind of creepy that the irken still remembered what his favorite outfit had been after all these years. Had the alien maybe gone to his house and gotten some of his clothing before destroying the planet? That would explain why the clothing felt almost familiar, the material was slightly worn and still smelled like him despite the fact that he hadn't worn them in years...though that wouldn't explain why it still fit him. He'd actually grown a lot since he'd been on earth and he was sure another week with those old tattered skinny jeans he'd have lost complete circulation in his legs. Maybe the alien had used some kind of enlargement ray on his old clothes.

He'd probably find out eventually but right now all he needed to do was find a way to escape..to get off this horrible ship. The teen leaned against the wall, running a hand through his freshly brushed hair. But where would he go after he'd escaped..there was no earth to return to and even if there was there were probably no human inhabitants left. Dib slid down the wall, sitting on the plush carpet with his knees drawn up to his chest and his arms wrapped around his legs. He rested his chin on his knees and let out a sigh. He was probably the last human in existence. What happened after he died? Was his entire race just forgotten? Were all those years of fighting against Zim for nothing?

He'd always wanted to escape the merchant who'd kidnapped him and return to earth...just to get back to a semi-normal life, but how could he do that now with no earth to return to..no home left. Before he'd been kidnapped Zim had been gone for a year or two..life had gone back to him simply running around looking for Bigfoot and other nonsensical creatures..he'd thought the earth was safe and that Zim had given up. Looks like he'd been wrong.

"Hello," A small voice said from beside him and he opened his eyes..only now realizing how deep in thought he'd been. He glanced over to see a short female irken looking at him..she was about the half his height if he'd been standing.

"What do you want?" The teen grumbled unhappily, raising his chin from his knees to glare more effectively at the alien.

"My tallest requests that you come to the dining room," The small irken said in that same fragile voice, holding out a hand as if offering to lead him there.
